What stories will you hear?
What stories will you hear?
Over the past 24 years The Society For Storytelling has
achieved much in its mission for the promotion of the oral tradition of
storytelling, the very first way of communicating life experiences and the
creative imagination.
2018 marks the 18th year of its Annual National
Storytelling Week, celebrated by all ages enjoying tales from a variety of
cultures and times.
Storytelling allows us to understand and connect with
the world around us and helps us feel like we are a part of something. Reading stories to children can show them
far-flung places, extraordinary people and eye-opening situations to expand and
enrich their world.
There is no shortage of fantastic books at the library to
share with your little ones, here are just a few suggestions for you to
practice your storytelling skills! Once upon a time...
Zog and the Flying Doctors (Julia Donaldson and Axel
Scheffler) - Meet the Flying Doctors: Princess Pearl, Sir Gadabout and, of
course, their trusty 'air ambulance', Zog the dragon. There's much to do, as
they fly around tending a sunburnt mermaid, a distressed unicorn and a sneezy
lion. But should princesses really be doctors?
Pearl's uncle, the King, doesn't think so - until he himself falls ill, and only Pearl knows how to cure him.

There is No Dragon in this Story (Lou Carter and Deborah
Allwright) - Poor old dragon. Nobody wants him in their story. Not Goldilocks,
not Hansel and Gretel - no one. But Dragon will not give up! He shall continue
on his course of finding someone who wants him in their story. ANYONE. His
boundless enthusiasm surely won't get him into any trouble. Surely ... A
glorious story about dragons, heroes and one very big sneeze.
Neon Leon (Jane Clarke and Britta Teckentrup) - Everyone
knows that chameleons are the best at fitting in. But not Leon. Leon is neon!
In fact, he's SO bright that he keeps all the other
chameleons awake at night. But poor Leon is lonely, so he goes off in search of
somewhere he can blend in.
In this delightful interactive book, children can help Leon
on his journey by counting his steps, sending him to sleep and giving him lots
of reassurance when he's feeling down. But will he ever find a place he can fit
in...?
Pa storïau fyddwch chi’n
clywed?
Dros y 24 mlynedd
ddiwethaf mae’r Gymdeithas Adrodd Storïau wedi cyflawni llawer yn ei
chenhadaeth i hybu’r traddodiad o ddweud stori ar lafar, y dull cyntaf erioed o
drosglwyddo profiadau bywyd a’r dychymyg creadigol.
2018 yw 18fed blwyddyn
Wythnos Genedlaethol Adrodd Storïau sy’n cael ei dathlu gan bobl o bob oed sy’n
mwynhau storïau o amrywiaeth o ddiwylliannau a chyfnodau.
Mae dweud stori yn
caniatáu i ni ddeall a chysylltu â’r byd o’n cwmpas ac yn ein helpu i deimlo
ein bod ni’n rhan o rywbeth. Mae darllen
storïau i blant yn gallu dangos gorwelion pell iddyn nhw, ynghyd â phobl
anhygoel a sefyllfaoedd cyffrous i ehangu a chyfoethogi eu byd.
Does dim prinder o lyfrau
gwych yn y llyfrgell i rannu gyda’r rhai bach, dyma ambell awgrym i chi i gael
ymarfer eich sgiliau wrth ddweud stori! Un tro, amser maith yn ôl...
Zog and the Flying Doctors
(Julia Donaldson ac Axel Scheffler)
Dewch i gwrdd â Meddygon
yr Awyr: Y Dywysoges Pearl, Sir Gadabout ac, wrth gwrs, yr ‘ambiwlans awyr', Zog y ddraig. Mae yna
gymaint i wneud wrth iddyn nhw hedfan o gwmpas yn tendio môr-forwyn â llosg
haul, ungorn gofidus a llew yn tisian. Ond a ddylai tywysogesau fod yn feddygon
mewn gwirionedd?
Dyw ewythr Pearl, y Brenin, ddim yn credu hynny – tan iddo fod yn sâl, a dim ond Pearl sy’n gwybod sut i’w wella.
Dyw ewythr Pearl, y Brenin, ddim yn credu hynny – tan iddo fod yn sâl, a dim ond Pearl sy’n gwybod sut i’w wella.
There is No Dragon in this
Story (Lou Carter a Deborah Allwright)
Druan o’r ddraig. Does neb
ei eisiau yn eu stori. Ddim Elen Benfelen, ddim Hansel a Gretel - neb. Ond
dyw’r Ddraig ddim yn mynd i roi’r gorau i bethau! Mae e am barhau i geisio cael
hyd i rywun sydd eisiau ei gael e yn eu stori. UNRHYW UN. Dyw ei frwdfrydedd heintus ddim am ei gael i
mewn i drwbl, does bosib. Yn siŵr...
stori ogoneddus am ddreigiau, arwyr ac un tisiad anferth.
Neon Leon (Jane Clarke a
Britta Teckentrup)
Mae pawb yn gwybod mai
cameleonod yw’r gorau wrth ffitio i mewn.
Ond, nid Leon. Mae Leon yn neon!
A dweud y gwir mae e MOR
llachar, mae e’n cadw’r cameleonod eraill ar ddi-hun trwy’r nos. Ond mae Leon
druan mor unig, felly mae’n mynd i ffwrdd i chwilio am rywle y gall ymdoddi
iddo.
Yn y llyfr rhyngweithiol
hyfryd yma, gall blant helpu Leon ar ei daith trwy gyfrif ei gamau, ei roi i
gysgu a thrwy roi digon o gysur iddo pan fydd yn teimlo’n isel. Ond a fydd e
byth yn cael hyd i le y bydd yn gallu ffitio i mewn iddo...?
